Renuka ji is well known weekend getaway destination
from Delhi & Chandigarh , Renuka ji was name of of
lord Parashuram , Prashuram an incarnation of Lord
Vishnu, who killed his mother Renuka ji on order of
his fathersage Jamdagni.In month of November an
annual fair is held here at Renuka ji for
celebration of immortality of Renuka & her son.
Renuka Lake: Renuka lake has shape like
sleeping woman,Renuka lake is one the largest &
beautiful lake of Himachal Pradesh, Renuka lake has
circumference of 2.5 Kms. Renuka lake is surrounded
by thick forest & hills, A road is built around
Renuka lake & number of temples are situated near
Lake & Road. Boating is allowed in lake but fishing
is prohibited.
Gayatri Temple: Gayatri Temple is situated on
left banks of Renuka lake, As name suggests this
temple is dedicated to Mother of vedas " Gayatri",
1.60 mtrs high statue of mother Gayatri is placed
here.Marble idols oflord Shiva, Ganesha, Vishn,
Bramha & Indra are also situeted here.
Parashuram Tal & Reuka Temple: Temple of
goddess Renuka is situated near a large pool known
as Prashuram tal , This temple was built by Gorkhas
in 19th century and known as original temple of
Renuka ji.
Mini Zoo ( 2 Kms): Mini Zoo is located across
the lake and houses spotted deer,Asiatic lions, lion
tailed macaques, bule bull ( nilgai), barking deer,
Himalayan balck bears etc.
Renuka Sanctuary: This sanctuary covers area
of 30 sq kma, Renuka sanctuary is located on banks
of Renuka lake and can bea reached via Dadahu
village, The animals seen here are black beer,
barking deer, goral, jackal, leopard etc.

Nearest airport to Renuka ji is Chandigarh ( 95 Kms),
Rail head Ambala ( 95 Kms), Renuka ji is well
connected by road from Delhi ( 295 Kms/ 5 hrs).
Places Around Renuka ji
Paonta Sahib ( 81Kms) : The sacred Sikh pilgrim
centre is situated on banks of river Yamuna and
associated with Guru Govind Singh Ji ( 10th Sikh
Guru), Its said Guru Govind Singh ji lost his "Paonta"
( foot ornment) while bathing in Yamuna river
here.Other legend says that Guru Govind Singh ji
kept his foot ( Paon) here, Thats why Its named as
Paonta Sahib., Nahan is 45 Kms & Dehradun is 44 kms
from here.
